Vandals destroy PHCN facilities in Taraba

SOME parts of Taraba State have been thrown into darkness owing to the destruction of electricity facilities by vandals.

As at the time of filing in this report, outage has persisted in Jalingo, the state capital, for over a week due to the activities of vandals.

Areas most affected as observed by The Guardian are Owoniyi Quarters, Abuja Phase One and Mile Six.

The absence of electricity in the state capital, as further noticed has led to increase in armed robbery attacks.

But residents of the city pointed accusing fingers at the staff of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) for aiding and abetting vandals in the state.

“As far as we are concerned, we believe that the PHCN people are the ones responsible for these acts because an ordinary man no matter how educated cannot go close to where the transformers are stationed let alone knowing what to remove from them,” said a resident of Owoniyi quarters.
