Imo plans more cities, security fund

PLANS have been concluded by the Imo State government to set up a security trust fund and seven more cities in the state.

Governor Rochas Okorocha will soon launch the trust fund to raise funds for security agencies to curb criminal activities in the state.

Briefing journalists after the Security and Executive Council meeting on Wednesday in Owerri, Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prof. Anthony Anwukah, said the governor has seen the need to set up full cities in Mgbidi, Akokwa, Anara, Umuaka, Ahara, Okpala and Nworieubi.

At present, there are three cities in Owerri, Okigwe and Orlu.

Anwukah said the chairmen and members of New Town Development Committee would be announced and inaugurated by the state government, adding that work would soon begin on the new cities.
